The Formula One season will stretch to 19 races next year with Abu Dhabi making its debut as the final Grand Prix in mid-November, the sport's governing body said on Wednesday. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) published the draft calendar, which starts in Australia on March 29 and has one more race than in 2008.

The Renault team's title sponsor ING Group announced Monday that it was pulling out of Formula One at the end of the 2009 season. 'In light of the recently announced cost reduction program, ING confirmed today not to renew the three year sponsorship (2007-2009) contract with Renault F1 and to end its presence in F1 beyond the 2009 season,' ING said in a statement.

Formula One teams and decision makers have agreed changes to the points system and tyre rules for this season as well as a ban on controversial 'double diffusers' from 2011. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said in a statement on Tuesday that the new points system will see the top 10 rewarded in a 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 sequence to encourage what it called "the race to win".
